The Parish of St. Mary’s prepares for First Reconciliation under the direction of Ms. Brenda Lenertz.
Her office is at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 417 S. Minnesota St., New Ulm, MN 56073.
Contact her at  (507) 233-9506 or at blenertz@newulmtel.net.

First Reconciliation Preparation: Students in the 2nd grade or older are invited to prepare for Reconciliation in the Fall of the year. Any student who plans to make their First Reconciliation must be both registered and participating (i.e. regular attendance) in religion classes for one full year prior to receiving these sacraments (either NUACS or faith formation/religious education).  This policy is in place to ensure that each child has the foundation they need to begin sacramental preparation. It is an important building block in a child's faith development and formation.

As the first to pass on the Catholic Faith to their children, parents prepare their students at home. Parish Materials to use in the home on a weekly basis are distributed at a Parent Catechesis meeting in early fall. Additional catechesis takes place in either the Catholic School or Parish based Faith Formation/Religious Education classes. The sacrament is celebration prior to Thanksgiving.
